When It’s Time to Praise

December 19, 2017

When It’s Time to Praise

God has been faithful to us, meaning all of us, continually. Always there when we need Him. To heal, to encourage, to unify, to embrace, and to love.

Manifesting His great love for us, and filling our hearts with love for others.

If there is one thing that I believe we have learned, it is praising God through every season we have passed through.

When there is nothing we can do, there are two things that always remain relevant to every situation.

In our personal lives, our church, our city, and our country. We can pray, and we can praise. Pray to the Father in Jesus name, and praise Him for His love and grace.

I come to you today in His name. To share some thoughts titled, “When It’s Time to Praise”

Eleven Psalms were attributed to the sons of Korah. I want to share a few passages from 2 to begin today.

Psalms 42:9-11 KJV

9 I will say unto God my rock, Why hast thou forgotten me? why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?

10 As with a sword in my bones, mine enemies reproach me; while they say daily unto me, Where is thy God?

11 Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.

Psalms 48:1-3 KJV

1 Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of his holiness.

2 Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, is mount Zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the great King.

3 God is known in her palaces for a refuge.

Praising and trusting in all seasons of life.”

Peter taught a lot about trials and praise.

1 Peter 1:3-9 KJV

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,

5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

6 Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:

7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

8 Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:

9 Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.

1 Peter 1:5 KJV

Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

This leads us to verse 6 which needs some attention.

1 Peter 1:6 KJV

Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:

Some words need attention. The word heaviness comes from a Greek word which means, “to make sorrowful, to affect with sadness, to cause grief.” The word temptations comes from a Greek word with an interesting meaning. “An experiment, a proving, the trial of man’s fidelity, integrity, virtue, and constancy.”

Before and after, the experiment, the proving, the trials, there is this.”

1 Peter 1:8 KJV

Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:

1 Peter 1:8 AMPC

Without having seen Him, you love Him; though you do not [even] now see Him, you believe in Him and exult and thrill with inexpressible and glorious (triumphant, heavenly) joy.

I get experimented on, proved, deal with trials of character and persistence. Then, I am supposed to praise.

YES, He trusts you. He believes in you. You have overcome, and you will overcome.”

The process is not always easy, but the end result is heavenly.

Peter had a couple of more things to say about this.

1 Peter 3:17 KJV

For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing.

1 Peter 5:10 KJV

But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.

Why, because He trusts you.”

When It’s Time to Praise” We praise in the church.

Hebrews 2:12 KJV

Saying, I will declare thy name unto my brethren, in the midst of the church will I sing praise unto thee.

When It’s Time to Praise” We praise when it’s not easy to praise.

Hebrews 13:15 KJV

By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.

I began with the sons of Korah, and I will end with them.

Psalms 47:1-9 KJV

1 O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph.2 For the Lord most high is terrible; he is a great King over all the earth.

3 He shall subdue the people under us, and the nations under our feet.

4 He shall choose our inheritance for us, the excellency of Jacob whom he loved. Selah.

5 God is gone up with a shout, the Lord with the sound of a trumpet.

6 Sing praises to God, sing praises: sing praises unto our King, sing praises.

7 For God is the King of all the earth: sing ye praises with understanding.

8 God reigneth over the heathen: God sitteth upon the throne of his holiness.

9 The princes of the people are gathered together, even the people of the God of Abraham: for the shields of the earth belong unto God: he is greatly exalted.

When It’s Time to Praise” The time is now!!!!!!
