“Kingdom Keys”
Greet People
I am going to get started quickly this morning as there is
a lot of ground to cover. First there are a couple of
things I want you to know. I often read one or two
passaged from a chapter to illustrate whatever point I
am making. Please believe that I am diligent in my
efforts to not take anything out of context. I am simply
trying to give the most info possible in a short amount
of time. I always encourage you to jot down the
passages and make notes, then go home and study them
for yourself.
I do not fear accountability.
Secondly, I love to have fun but my messages are
geared towards growth and strength and prayer. I am not
eloquent in speech and I don’t know many cute stories. I
don’t do cute when it comes to the Gospel.
The Gospel is the most powerful force known to man.
Power to change, heal, deliver and transform. It creates
a new heart in those of us who believe. WOW
With that said I want to share the 4 th in the series
Dominion and Vision titled, “Kingdom Keys”Page 2
Isaiah 22 records an interesting story of the transfer of
power in Jerusalem. Shebna was in control of the royal
household and God was not happy with his service. God
said this through the prophet.
Isaiah 22:19-23 NASB
19 “I will depose you from your office, And I will pull
you down from your station.
20 “Then it will come about in that day, That I will
summon My servant Eliakim the son of Hilkiah,
21 And I will clothe him with your tunic And tie your
sash securely about him. I will entrust him with your
authority, And he will become a father to the inhabitants
of Jerusalem and to the house of Judah.
22 “Then I will set the key of the house of David on his
shoulder, When he opens no one will shut, When he
shuts no one will open.
23 “I will drive him like a peg in a firm place,
And he will become a throne of glory to his father’s
house.
There is so much going on in theses passages but time
moves me on. It is important to understand what the key
of the house of David is. To do so we must go to 1
Chronicles.Page 3
God said this to David through Nathan the prophet.
1 Chronicles 17:11-14 NASB
11 When your days are fulfilled that you must go to be
with your fathers, that I will set up one of your
descendants after you, who will be of your sons; and I
will establish his kingdom.
12 He shall build for Me a house, and I will establish his
throne forever.
13 I will be his father and he shall be My son; and I will
not take My loving kindness away from him, as I took it
from him who was before you.
14 But I will settle him in My house and in My kingdom
forever, and his throne shall be established forever.”
In the previous scriptures from Isaiah the word key is
translated from a Hebrew word which means, opening
instrument.
It is significant of someone with authority. If you have
the keys you have the power to open and close. The key
the prophet is referring to is the promise of God for a
Savior to come from the house of David.Page 4
Approximately 1065 years from 1 Chronicles 17, and
793 years from Isaiah 22, we read this passage from the
words of Jesus found in John’s Revelation.
Revelation 3:7 NASB
7 And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write:
He who is holy, who is true, who has the key of David,
who opens and no one will shut, and who shuts and no
one opens, says this:
I must quickly share the fate of the other 6 churches.
Now listen to what Jesus said of the church at
Philadelphia.
Revelation 3:8-13 NASB
8 ‘I know your deeds. Behold, I have put before you an
open door which no one can shut, because you have a
little power, and have kept My word, and have not
denied My name.
9 Behold, I will cause those of the synagogue of Satan,
who say that they are Jews and are not, but lie—I will
make them come and bow down at your feet, and make
them know that I have loved you.
10 Because you have kept the word of My
perseverance, I also will keep you from the hour of
testing, that hour which is about to come upon the
whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth.Page 5
11 I am coming quickly; hold fast what you have, so
that no one will take your crown.
12 He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the
temple of My God, and he will not go out from it
anymore; and I will write on him the name of My God,
and the name of the city of My God, the new Jerusalem,
which comes down out of heaven from My God, and
My new name.
13 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says
to the churches.’
My sermon in the middle of my sermon. Philadelphia
literally means, brotherly love. It comes from 2 Greek
words. Phileo which means to love, and adelphos which
means brother.
Preach Favor for the church that loves, and tells the
story of Jesus and His perseverance.
In Matthew 16 we find the story titled, Peter’s
confession. It was the time Jesus asked who do men say
that I am. After throwing out a few names He then asked
who do you say that I am.
Peter responded this way.Page 6
Matthew 16:16-19 NASB
16 Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son
of the living God.”
17 And Jesus said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon
Barjona, because flesh and blood did not reveal this to
you, but My Father who is in heaven.
18 I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this
rock I will build My church; and the gates of Hades will
not overpower it.
19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven;
and whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound
in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall have
been loosed in heaven.”
Preach I got all tore up over this.
The word translated keys means, power to open and
shut, it denotes power and authority. I love the word
heaven. It comes from the Greek word, oo-ran’-ee-os. It
means, in heaven, coming from heaven.
Preach Thy Kingdom Come.
I have to read verse 19 again from the Message.Page 7
Matthew 16:19 Message
“And that’s not all. You will have complete and free
access to God’s kingdom, keys to open any and every
door: no more barriers between heaven and earth, earth
and heaven. A yes on earth is yes in heaven. A no on
earth is no in heaven.”
So what is the key? “You are the Christ, the Son of the
living God.”
Who He is and His perseverance are the keys of heaven.
Given to one of the founding fathers of the church and passed
down by the Holy Spirit to us today.
The Gospel is comprised of two things. The story of Jesus and
love for one another.
Those two things will break the heart of a sinner and lead
them to repentance. Those two things will join together a
house divided. Those two things will heal broken and
damaged people.
The story of Jesus and love will change the world. It has done
it before and it will do it again.
